Important people!

ü	Miss Bafana is the Head of the Secondary School and carries great responsibility for all the administration. This inevitably spills over into the Mission duties such as paying salaries to the workers and Pre-school staff.

Father Albert has been on the school staff for some time but Bishop Cleophas has now appointed him as Rector at St James. This means he has oversight of the whole Mission. He is taking this very seriously and we have just received a wonderful comprehensive report for 2010 from him – very upbeat! There is too much information to include in this newsletter, but it is very encouraging and provides most valuable information for the Committee. We shall pass details on as soon as possible.

The Land Rover which we sent eventually arrived at St James after a lot of unexpected hassle with import fees. It was received with great jubilation, we are told. It is a long wheel base Defender with seating for twelve (probably a lot more in Zimbabwe!) and has a full length roof rack making it a useful vehicle for transporting both people and goods. We hope it gives long service.

Some Facts and Figures

St James Mission, founded in 1958, belongs to the Anglican Province of Central Africa and is under the care of The Diocese of Matabeleland. The Secondary School is run as a separate enterprise, with the Mission overseeing all other activities. St James, fifty miles north-west of Bulawayo, is a Parish in the Diocese .

ü	The Secondary School has an enrolment of 535 pupils, all boarding, and there are 31 members of staff. Fees per term are USD 370 about £240 (see Fundraising News).

ü	The Primary School, a Ministry of Education day school, has 188 pupils with 7 staff. Fees per term are USD12 about £8.

ü	The Pre-school, run by the Mission, has enrolment of 43 and is staffed by Margaret Sibanda and Lingiwe Ndlovu, both trained by St James under former Headmistress Eelin Beardall.

ü	The St James Management Committee, chaired by the Bishop is made up of the school Heads, the Rector, a Projects Administrator and Carol for FSJMS. The aim is to meet twice each term.
