The committee next met by teleconference on Sat 12 February 2011
The FSJMS committee had been delighted to receive recent minutes from SJMC, with a clear explanation of needs. This really helps the FSJMS committee to respond to the school’s requests and the committee expressed its great thanks to Fr Ncube and the SJMC committee for providing us with these minutes.
David had received an e-mail from Carol. Both Carol and husband had been involved in a bad car accident. Carol had been hurt and had spent three hours in casualty; fortunately Albin was unhurt. The committee were very worried to hear this.
Jane reported that she had sent jumpers via Mrs Ndiwane and requested a photo of the children in sweaters. Alison agreed to contact Mrs Ndiwane’s son to request this but it reflected that it might be difficult to get photos taken.
David presented the Treasurer’s annual report. There had been a further donation from Paul Bradley in memory of Maureen and the total sum raised was now in excess of £1,600 –truly remarkable.
The committee reflected on likely expenditure for ‘regular giving’ items in 2011. With around £8,000-£9,000 for bursaries, £3,000-£4,000 to support the pre-school, £2,000 for the clinic, £1,500 for the feeding fund and £500 for the primary school, regular “needs” were likely to be around £15,000 - £16,000 in 2011.
