The committee has met once in person and three times by telephone conference since the 2010 AGM.
Short committee meeting in person following AGM 13 March 2010
Paula had been in contact with the chair of LINK. It appeared that duty would be payable on the Land Rover despite our prior understanding that no duty would be payable on a ‘church to church’ donation. The committee was asked to consider what contribution (if any) we would be willing to make to help the Diocese meet the duty charges. After a short discussion, it was agreed to contribute £3,500 to the cost of duty from reserves.
The committee next met by telephone conference on Sat 18 September 2010
The committee noted with great sadness the death of Alison Rudd, and remembered her as a great friend of St James and of Zimbabwe.
The committee reviewed and agreed ownership of actions arising from the AGM. The committee learned that
Fr A. N. Ncube had been appointed as the new priest in charge at St James. Paula offered to write offering congratulations and introducing FSJMS.
As always, David had been in close contact with Carol Williams (our wonderful treasurer in Zimbabwe) prior to the meeting, who had been able to confirm the school’s current requests for funding. Communication with the Mission had improved, but Carol was still waiting for information from the clinic regarding their funding needs. The treasurer’s report was discussed. Disbursements were reviewed. It was noted that money allocated to the primary school for stationery and repairs had not been taken up – perhaps the primary school was not aware this money was available to them?
David (via Carol) confirmed current school fees for the secondary school:
